Painted it white

So you know how I was trying to get the smells out of the armoire that I bought on Craigslist?  I finally got that musty smell out...by transforming it into a FISHY smell (rotten fishy smell)...SERIOUSLY...whatever I did made the smell 10 times worse than what we started with...I think it was the linseed oil...or the murphy's oil soap...Once I realized the smell wasn't fading at all, I PRETTY MUCH PANICKED! Out came the paint brush...

I still feel a little dizzy over painting the piece (or maybe that's from just finishing up another coat of white oil paint on the doors)...but the smell was unbearable...it knocked you out when you opened the garage door. Seriously...ick...

I have to abandon the project for a couple weeks, then I will give it a coat of poly...its needs to get glossed up FOR SURE....then I will find some handsome strong men to lug it upstairs...style it up, and show you an after shot...

I am afraid that you will all hate it...and hate me...I am a fan of wood (yes, all the trim in my house is white, but that is because it was painted and fresh and bright when we bought...part of the reason we fell in love with the house is because of the light.)...

I loved the dresser before...but the smell was, like, STAGE 5 ADVANCED STALENESS...and the dresser is a 1975 veneer and particle board piece...so no regrets!

ps...please don't hate me...I promise I won't come to your house and paint your old furniture...
pss...once I get this 'project' out of the way I can go back to surfing craigslist again...having my latest score ROT in the garage has been incredibly demotivating!
psss....the drawer fronts have only been primed...I am going to paint them some pretty colour ( I haven't selected a colour yet)
pssss...I am wincing as I hit the 'publish post' button...I am imagining some terrible anonymous comments ....i know, i know...it was lovely...but that musty smell was stubborn...(it wasn't the inside of the drawers that smelled...it was the cubbies at the top)
psssss...its a rookie job, and the wood was GORGEOUS, I KNOW!  I am definitely mourning the loss
